Brian Boyle is a full-time college student, personal trainer, swim coach and writer. A champion powerlifter and state champion swimmer with the St. Mary's College of Maryland Varsity Men's Swimming Team.
A month after graduating from high school, Brian was hit on his driver's side door by a dump truck as he was crossing through an intersection on his way home after a swim practice.
The impact knocked his heart across his chest, collapsed his lungs and broke his clavicle, pelvis along with several ribs. He sustained severe damage to his left shoulder, lost 60% of his body's blood, and ended up in a coma for two months on life support.
Brian's heart stopped 8 times (he DIED 8 times!), and there was not much hope for his survival, let alone a partial or complete recovery. When he finally did awake from his comatose state, he was told that he would never walk again. Doctors told him that he would never swim, or compete in any athletic event for the rest of his life. |
